CAIRO – 4 October 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi said on Wednesday that “anyone who had lived through the period between 1967 and 1973 that the Egyptians have endured, would have known very well that Egypt did not only achieved victory in the war, but also ‘took a leap forward’’.”
During the Armed Forces' cultural symposium to celebrate October war, Sisi said that the Armed Forces were able exceed the difference of strength, fear, and previous defeat with October war.
“The victory achieved by the Egyptian army at that time was impossible for anyone to achieve, except the Egyptians” Sisi added
He noted that “the Egyptians endured tremendous difficulties in the period from 67 to 73 because all of Egypt's resources were allocated to the military”
“Everyone should know the amount of effort and determination that the Egyptians put to turn defeat into victory. This astonished the Israelis themselves!”
Sisi also explained that: “One of the elements of the comprehensive forces in Egypt at that time was the president himself, so when late President Abdel Nasser died, this was another hit to the Egyptian people”
President Sisi then honored number of October War ‘heroes’ during the symposium that was held to celebrate 1973 war
