CAIRO - 4 October 2023: Over the past nine years, the Egyptian government has been diversifying higher education pathways to provide Egyptian students with increased opportunities to enroll in universities.

This effort has resulted in various achievements, including the establishment of new universities and facilitating the development of private universities.

As of 2023, the number of operating private universities that admit students has reached approximately 30 private universities with a total of 237 faculties. This is a significant increase compared to the situation in 2014 when there were only 23 private universities with a total of 132 faculties.

In addition to private universities, the Egyptian government introduced the system of civil universities. The total number of civil universities, including international universities and those branching from government universities, has reached 20 civil universities with a total of 99 faculties.

This expansion in the higher education sector reflects Egypt's commitment to enhancing accessibility to quality education for its citizens and is seen as a positive step towards meeting the growing demand for higher education in the country.

The establishment of these universities contributes to fostering a well-educated workforce and supporting the nation's development.

Egypt's investment in higher education is expected to provide a more diverse range of educational opportunities for students, leading to improved skill development and a better-equipped workforce ready to address the challenges of the modern world. It also highlights the government's dedication to promoting education as a means to drive national progress and innovation.
