CAIRO – 6 September 2023:  Egypt’s ambassador in Athens, Omar Amer, met on Wednesday with Dimitris Kairidis, the Greek Minister of Immigration as they discussed the repercussions of the illegal immigration sinking boat last June.

The two officials also agreed to begin implementing the ‘seasonal labor agreement’ and provide all necessary guarantees for Egyptian workers in a way that preserves the rights of Egyptians, and enhance the ties between the two countries.

Earlier during the Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias meeting with Ambassador Amer, both officials stressed the importance of strategic relations between the two countries, especially in light of the tangible development they are witnessing in various fields.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement last April that the two sides agreed on the importance of intensifying efforts to work to expand the scope of the strategic partnership between the two countries politically, economically and commercially, and to explore new horizons of cooperation.
