CAIRO - 8 August 2023: The cabinet media center on Tuesday refuted as bare of truth an audio shared by users of social media networks claiming the spread of Tuberculosis (TB) disease through refugees.

In a statement, the media center said it contacted the Ministry of Health and Population, which denied such a rumor as groundless, saying that no increase in the Tuberculosis cases reported among the refugees nationwide.

According to World health Organization (WHO), the Tuberculosis infection rate in Egypt’s neighboring countries stands at 57 cases in every 100,000 people.

The detected cases are estimated at eight in each 100,000 people, the WHO added.

Meanwhile, the cabinet media center appealed to media outlets and social media users to verify the accuracy of news before publishing it, in order to avoid confusion among citizens.
