Egyptian president receives phone call on Sudanese crisis from Kenyan counterpart

CAIRO – 8 August 2023: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Tuesday a phone call from his Kenyan counterpart William Ruto so as the two leaders exchanged views on African issues, particularly the Sudanese crisis and Nile Basin affairs.

 

The chiefs of state also conferred over bolstering bilateral relations, and intensifying consultations pertaining to continental sustainable development endeavors, and accomplishing integration among African countries.

 

Sisi and Ruto met in June on the sidelines of the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact, in the French capital, Paris.

 

The two Presidents discussed regional developments of mutual concern, particularly the latest in Sudan. They agreed on the need for holding intensive consultations and coordination with the aim of finding a solution to the crisis in Sudan that would achieve a ceasefire and pacification.

 

The ultimate goal was sparing the Sudanese people the humanitarian repercussions of the fighting, enforcing the path of peaceful negotiations and pushing forward the political process.
