CAIRO – 27 July 2023: Egypt condemned Thursday "the storming of Al Aqsa Mosque by officials in the Israeli government and hundreds of extremist elements in addition to banning Muslim worshippers from practicing their authentic right in accessing the place and praying there."
The statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stipulated the recurrent breaking into Al Aqsa Mosque and attempts to divide it in terms of time and place would not alter its existing legal and historic status as an Islamic worship place.
The ministry called on Israel to halt such "provocative and escalatory acts that lead to nothing but triggering emotions and fueling existing tensions on the occupied territories," warning of repercussions on the region's security and stability.
Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir entered Al Aqsa Mosque early on Thursday surrounded by hundreds, which is an act he has repeated several times this year.
