Egypt holds political consultations with Sweden, Czechia, Slovenia

CAIRO – 25 June 2023: Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs Ehab Nasr held a European tour that included Sweden, Czechia, and Slovenia to participate in political consultations on bolstering bilateral ties and exchanging views on regional and international affairs of joint interest, according to a press statement Saturday.

 

Ambassador Nasr and Head of the Department of Trade Promotion, Nation Branding and CSR Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt discussed on June 14 boosting Swedish investments in Egypt as well as tourism, political cooperation, and trade exchange.  

 

During the visit, the Egyptian diplomat held meetings with senior officials at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Karolinska Institute (research-led medical university), and National Historical Museums.

 

Ambassador Nasr presented on June 16 to Czech Acting Director General for non-European Countries and Economic Diplomacy Veronika Kuchyňová Šmigolová collaboration opportunities in the sectors of trade, energy, tourism, culture, academia, environment and climate change. That is in addition to the opportunities open for Czech companies and investors at national mega projects.

 

On her side, Ambassador Šmigolová underscored her country's keenness on expanding relations with Egypt, which is considered a vital partner in the Middle East.

 

Further, the Egyptian diplomat met with the Czech deputy minister for European affairs, and chair of the foreign relations committee at the parliament to confer over foreign policy affairs of mutual interest and parliamentary cooperation.

 

With regard to consultations with Solvenia, Ambassador Nasr and Director-General of the Directorate for Political Affairs Mateja Norcic Stamcar held talks on June 19-20 on potential cooperation in the sectors of trade, investment, parliamentary affairs, energy, and seaports.

 

In a different context, the Egyptian assistant to the foreign minister congratulated Slovenia on winning a non-permanent membership at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for 2024-2025.

 

The diplomat also convened with Slovenian state secretary for European affairs, director-general of multilateral cooperation, deputy chair of the foreign relations committee at the parliament, and state secretary at the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism, and Sport.
