CAIRO – 21 June 2023: Egypt has called for an immediate cessation of attacks by Israeli settlers in a number of Palestinian villages in the occupied West Bank, which have killed and injured a number of Palestinian civilians.

Latest attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian villagers have caused damage to a large number of properties, while the Israeli authorities have not intervened to stop the vandalism, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign affairs said.

“Egypt affirms its categorical rejection of acts of terror, intimidation, and collective punishment targeting Palestinian citizens,” the ministry stressed.

Egypt had previously warned of the dangers and repercussions of the continuous Israeli escalation, the latest of which was the storming of Jenin two days ago, which caused casualties in a series of violence, the ministry noted.

“Egypt stresses the need to immediately break the existing cycle of violence in order to stop bloodshed and prevent further deterioration in the security situation and its spiral out of control,” the ministry said.

The ministry also called for ending the violence to allow de-escalation efforts made by the regional and international parties to achieve their goals.

Hundreds of Israeli settlers attacked the Turmusayya village in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, killing a Palestinian and injuring at least 12 others.

Also, at least 5 Palestinians, including a child were killed in an Israeli raid on Jenin city in the West Bank.
