CAIRO – 13 April 2023:  President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi greeted the Coptic Christians living abroad on the occasion of Easter, the state-owned news agency MENA reported on Thursday.

In a cable, the president sent his greetings to the Egyptian embassies and consulates around the globe, wishing them a blessed Easter.

Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox Church will celebrate Easter on April 15, which comes after the Holy Week, ending a 55-day period of Lent.

The Orthodox Church started in February the Great Lent, and held masses and prayers at various churches nationwide.

Easter, aka Resurrection Sunday, is a Christian celebration commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, according to the Christian belief.
