CAIRO – 21 March 2023: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ordered continuing intensive efforts to add around 3.5 million feddans in the New Delta, Toshka and Sinai to Egypt’s agricultural area, the Egyptian Presidency said in a statement on Tuesday.

This exceeds a third of the cultivated area across Egypt, the Presidency said, making it one of the country’s mega national projects aimed at meeting the hopes and aspirations of the Egyptian people.

The mega project, dubbed “Future of Egypt,” to add 3.5 million feddans to Egypt’s agricultural lands also comes within the framework of the state's strategy to keep pace with the needs of population increase, achieve food security, increase agricultural exports and enhance integration between all sectors of the national economy, the Presidency added.

That included rates of work progress in the project's infrastructure, which includes roads, axes, wells, treatment plants, electricity supply network, as well as the agricultural manufacturing and marketing systems, the Presidency added.
