CAIRO – 23 February 2023: Egypt was handed over the presidency of the African Ministers' Council on Water (AMCOW) from Namibia for two years 2023-2024.

 

 

The handover took place during the fourth extraordinary session of the AMCOW which convened virtually as Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam received the presidency from Namibia’s counterpart Calle Schlettwein.

 

 

 

Namibia's Minister of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform encouraged his Egyptian counterpart to “carry on the work of AMCOW to facilitate the delivery of the African water agenda.”

 

The Egyptian Minister thanked AMCOW for “the privilege of leading the Council,” committing to continue mobilizing support for implementing AMCOW work plans.
