CAIRO - 17 July 2017: Palestinian Ambassador here and its permanent representative to the Arab League (AL) Gamal al Shobaky warned against the recent Israeli measures in Al Aqsa Mosque, stressing that they aim at dividing this sanctuary site like the Ibrahimi Mosque.

He noted calls to demolish Al Aqsa Mosque and establish the Temple of Solomon.

These remarks came during the speech of Shobaky at the meeting of the extraordinary session of the AL at the level of the permanent representatives under Algeria on Monday.

The diplomat said that Al Aqsa Mosque should be operated by the Jordanian Awqaf (endowments) Ministry as the case before 1967.

He further underlined that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Jordanian King Abdullah II contacted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu so as to open the mosque.
