Egypt’s Minister of Health, Sir Magdi Yacoub discuss project of medical center for organ transplantation

CAIRO – 9 February 2023: Egyptian Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with Sir Dr. Magdi Yacoub, the famous cardiothoracic surgeon, to follow up on the ongoing project of establishing a medical center for organ transplantation, according to a statement by the Ministry on Thursday.

They also discussed standards and controls organizing the organ transplantation process, in a way that facilitates the donation procedures for the Egyptian patient and guarantees his access, the statement added.

The Minister highlighted the necessity to create an automated database that includes the patient’s medical file, and aims to organize and coordinate organ transplant operations among patients.

Abdel Ghaffar said that the Egyptian health sector possesses distinguished skills and cadres, paying more attention to the importance of cooperation in spreading the culture of organ donation among citizens, as it represents a necessity of life, and contributes to saving the lives of citizens and preserving their health.
