CAIRO – 13 July 2022: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed on Wednesday regional and international issues of mutual concern in a phone call with King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.

During the phone call, the two leaders discussed their viewpoints regarding those issues and exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the blessed Eid Al-Adha, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said in a statement.

President Sisi wished the people and government of Saudi Arabia further progress, peace and prosperity.

The phone call comes few days before the upcoming Gulf Cooperation Council summit (GCC+3), which Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah is scheduled to host in mid-July.

The summit will include the GCC countries in addition to Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan.

In June, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman made an official visit to Egypt and met with Sisi. During the visit, Sisi and the Saudi crown prince affirmed the significance of the summit.

In a final statement at the end of a visit paid by Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman to Egypt, the two countries pressed for stimulating partnership between their private sectors and creating an attractive investment environment in various fields, including tourism, energy, healthcare, transport, logistics, ICT, real estate and agriculture.

During the meeting, Sisi and the Saudi crown prince affirmed the unified Egyptian-Saudi stance towards various regional and international issues of mutual concern, a presidential statement said.

The two sides agreed to reinforce and upgrade economic partnership between them through achieving integration between the opportunities available under Saudi Vision 2030 and Egypt Vision 2030.

They also welcomed the 8-billion-dollar deals signed by the private sectors of both countries. The statement cast light on a Saudi plan to pump investments in Egypt at a total of 30 billion dollars.

The two countries also announced the launch of a 10-gigawatt electric power project, which will be implemented by the Saudi ACWA Power company.

The two sides praised the volume of trade exchange and expressed their determination to conclude an investment promotion and protection agreement as soon as possible.
