89th session of Arab media committee kicks off in Cairo

CAIRO - 10 July 2017: The 89th regular session of the Permanent Committee of the Arab Media started on Monday, under its chairman Dr. Abdulmohsen bin Farouq Elias.

The committee meetings will discuss a host of important issues, topped by the role of Arab media in facing terrorism.

Participants are scheduled to discuss recommendations issued during the 17th meeting of a team of experts concerned with monitoring the role of Arab media in countering the phenomenon of terrorism, as well as efforts exerted by member states to combat terrorism that threatens peace and stability across the globe.

The meetings also take up the latest updates of the Arab Electronic Media Committee's website, in addition to recommendations by an electronic media workshop on facing extremist ideas to take the necessary measures to implement these recommendations.

The committee also review the draft of the Arab Media Map for Sustainable Development 2030, which was prepared by the Media and Communications Sector, under the framework of implementing its Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 that was adopted by the UN General Assembly in September 2015.
