CAIRO - 17 October 2021:  A joint Russian-Egyptian tactical exercise “Defenders of Friendship 2021”, will kick off on Sunday in Egypt, and last until October 29, Russian news agency TASS reported the Russian Ministry of Defense.

 

The tactical exercise includes a practical airdropping of personnel and equipment, the statement added, saying that more than 400 Egyptian paratroops and a number of military transport airplanes  will participate in the exercise. “Boeing CH-47 Chinook twin-engined heavy-lift helicopters,” will be used also in the exercises.

 

“About 100 servicemen of Russia’s Novorossiisk-based Guards Mountain Air Assault Unit, six BMD-2 infantry fighting vehicles and four Il-76MD military transport planes will take part in the exercise,” the statement read.
