Egypt receives 250K doses of COVID-19 vaccine AstraZeneca

CAIRO- 24 September 2021: The Greek government supported Egypt with 250,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine “AstraZeneca”, announced the Egyptian Ministry of Health on Friday.
 
The shipment arrived in Egypt in the past two days, the statement added.
 
In her meeting with the Greek ambassador to Egypt Nikolaos Garilidis, Egyptian Minister of Health Hala Zayed appreciated the Greek government’s support provided.
 
The Greek Ambassador expressed his country's readiness to continue supporting Egypt’s health sector.
 
A total of 722 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Egypt in 24 hours, topping the number of infected cases since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020 to 2 29,9710 people, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 daily briefing on Thursday.
 
The death cases reported in the same period reached 31 fatalities, bringing the total number of deaths to 17,074, the statement added.
 
As many as 569 patients were discharged from hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recoveries to 252,471.
 
The recovery rate from the coronavirus (COVID-19) at Egyptian isolation hospitals has reached 84.3% percent, according to the Ministry of Health's statement on Sunday.
 
Egypt’s Health Minister Hala Zayed said the country has received a total of 33.657 million doses of AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Sinopharm, Sputnik V and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
 
Egypt also plans to release 1.926 million doses of the locally-made Sinovac vaccine between 18 to 24 September, the minister said in a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
