Egypt sends medical aid shipments to Tunisia to help easing COVID-19 pandemic effect

CAIRO – 14 July 2021: Three Egyptian military airplane loaded with medical equipment and supplies arrived on Wednesday in the Tunisia per directives of President Abdel Fatah al Sisi to help easing and facing the crisis of COVID-19 effect on the Arab-brotherly country.

The airplanes took off from Almaza Air Force Base Airport loaded with medical shipments provided by the Egyptian Health Ministry with the aim of alleviating burdens on Tunisian people.

The Tunisian authority thanked Egypt for its continued support for the Tunisians affirming that the move comes as part of the strong and historical ties binding both countries.

On July 10, Egypt sent two trucks carrying more than 31 tons of medical supply to Tunisia, which announced the collapse of its medical sector against fighting the coronavirus.

 

In media remarks to El-Hikaya talk show on MBC Masr on Friday, Egyptian Minister of Health Hala Zayed stated.

Zayed, added that President Sisi gave his direction, expressing Egypt’s support to the Tunisian people.

Spokeswoman for the Tunisian Ministry of Health Nesaf bin Ali told Radio Mosaïque FM, on Thursday, that the country's health system has collapsed as the intensive care departments are overwhelmed, while doctors are exhausted amid the rapid spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Last week,Tunisian President Kais Saied made a phone call to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, expressing Tunisia’s full support for everything that would preserve the Egyptian water security as an integral part of the Arab national security.

The phone call comes in light of Tunisia’s current membership in the council.

In May 2021, an Egyptian military airplane loaded with medical equipment and supplies arrived in the Tunisian military base in Aouina, Mosaique FM reported.
