US reaffirms support for Cypriot unification

WASHINGTON - 8 July 2017: The US Department of State reiterated Washington's support for the reunification of Cyprus after the Conference on Cyprus has ended with no agreement.

The United States is disappointed the Conference on Cyprus in Crans Montana, Switzerland, has closed without an agreement, the US Department of State said in a press release.

"We express gratitude and respect for the hard work by all parties and for the United Nations’ facilitation," read the release.

The United States will continue to support efforts to reunify the island as a bizonal, bicommunal federation, which would benefit all Cypriots, it added.
