CAIRO – 8 July 2017: Anwar Gargash, United Arab Emirates state minister for foreign affairs has slammed Qatar's Ambassador to the Russian Federation Fahad bin Mohammed Al Attiya, for his New York Times article, saying that playing oppressed before Qatar’s western relations will not hide its support to terrorism.

“Among the conditions the bloc is attempting to impose on Qatar is that we close down a number of Qatari news organizations, including the award-winning satellite channel Al Jazeera,” Attiya said in the article. “We support the freedom of the press — these outlets have been free to publish content critical of Qatar itself.”

Gargash tweeted that the Qatari ambassador distanced himself from his country’s policy and is promoting his country’s freedom of press. He said in an earlier tweet that if a sane person believed unreasonable talk, then this person is actually insane.
