CAIRO – 5 July 2017: Foreign Ministers of Egypt, UAE, KSA and Bahrain held a press conference in Cairo Wednesday to announce the results of a quartet summit regarding Qatari dispute.

Emirati Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Saudi Adel Al Jubeir Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed al-Khalifa and Egyptian Sameh Shoukry are presented at the conference, which takes place in Tahrir Palace.

Wednesday is the final day of the extended 48 hours deadline proposed by Kuwait’s Emir for Qatar to respond to the 13-demands list issued by Egypt, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Earlier on Wednesday, the four countries issued a statement saying that they have officially received a response from Doha to their demands, and that they will issue their statement regarding the aforementioned response at the right time.

Below are live updates from press conference in Cairo:

18:15: UAE’s Bin Zayed: Though our prolonged patience towards Qatar and its behavior, we did not find any "serious" response from Doha’s government to our callings. If Qatar chooses to remain on this track, our choice will remain to stay “separate.”

18:11: Shoukry: Egypt’s President Abdel Fatah al- Sisi and U.S President Donald Trump discussed joint action to fight terrorism and funding it.

18:10: Shoukry: The dispute with Qatar was an important issue tackled during the phone call between the Egyptian and U.S. leaders Wednesday.

18:07: Shoukry: President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump talked today on phone regarding countering terrorism and the Qatari dispute and both were "clear" regarding taking serious steps with all terrorism backers and financiers.

18:05: Shoukry: We don’t want to harm Qatar nor the Qatari people. By helping Qatar we help ourselves in the region. We should all around the world exchange information regarding fighting terrorism.

18:04: Bahrain’s Bin Ahmed al-Khalifa: suspending Qatar’s membership in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is in the hands of the member states. Suspending Doha’s membership is proposed and will be discussed during the first GCC meeting.

18:04: Saudi Arabia's Jubeir: Terrorists wanted to target Mecca and Medina along with all the religious and holy places around the world.

18:03: Saudi Arabia's Jubeir: Iran supports terrorism and extremism. Iran is an isolated state, and is the source of terrorism in the world. Turkey said its stance is neutral regarding the dispute with Qatar.

18:02: Saudi Arabia's Jubeir: We now have a very good strategy regarding fighting terrorism and we consider ourselves on the forefront of governments which work on confronting it.

18:00: Saudi Arabia's Jubeir: As a result of our good relations with the international intelligence bodies around the world, we have succeeded in foiling a number of terrorist plots against us during the past period.

17:56: Bahrain’s Bin Ahmed al-Khalifa: There is a difference between countries that are fighting terrorism, like ourselves, and countries that back them.

17: 55: Shoukry: We are determined to eliminate all the terrorists’ resources in the world.

The four states praise U.S. President Donald Trump’s stance regarding fighting terrorism.

17:54: Bahrain’s Bin Ahmed al-Khalifa: This meeting is a preliminary meeting responding to the “negative response” of Qatar to our demands.

17: 53: Shoukry : Qatar will not be forgiven for its continuous support for terrorism. We will not compromise with regards to what we have suffered.

17: 52: Saudi Arabia's Jubeir: Iran is one of the biggest countries which support terrorism in the world; it is an isolated country.

The joint statement in Cairo is not a response to Qatar. The recently taken measures resulted from Qatar’s support for terrorism and extremism.

There is a political and economic boycott of Qatar due to its policies. There are discussions to respond to Qatar, with measures and steps in accordance with the international law.

17: 51: Bahrain’s Bin Ahmed al-Khalifa: We thank Egypt and Shoukry for calling for this meeting which represents the importance of teamwork. The terrorist groups made our countries suffer too much, so all the parties that show support for them will be punished.

17:50: Shoukry: The Egyptian people and the Egyptian army have suffered as a result of the ongoing Qatari stubbornness and its support to terrorism.

17:49: Shoukry: The coming meeting of the four foreign ministers will be held in Manama, and we would like to thank Kuwait for its efforts in the dispute.

17:48: Shoukry: All the sanctions imposed on Qatar came due to Doha's backing of terrorism. All the international community should show seriousness towards the Qatari attitude of backing terrorism.

17:47 - Shoukry: The four states laud Kuwait's Emir over his efforts to solve the crisis.
