CAIRO - 30 March 2020: The Health Ministry said Monday 689 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 200,739.

In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 32 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 11,914.

As many as 455 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 153,630 so far, the spokesman said.

The Ministry of Health and Population said that according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization issued on May 27, 2020, the disappearance of symptoms for 10 days after infection is an indication of the patient's recovery from the Corona virus.

Egypt has so far obtained 650,000 doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine.

It also received its first batch of the AstraZeneca vaccine (50,000 doses) last month.

The country started its vaccination campaign in January, providing vaccine so far to thousands of medical workers, people suffering from chronic diseases and elderly.
