CAIRO - 28 May 2019: "The Egyptian tourism sector is reviving as the country prepares to open a number of museums, including the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)," Egypt's ambassador in Berlin Badr Abdel Aati said on Monday.

This came during his meeting with chairman of the German-European travel alliance Thomas Boisel which is the largest alliance of tourism companies and agencies in the European continent. The ambassador also reviewed the recent archaeological discoveries in Egypt.

Abdel Aati made it clear that the Sphinx Airport will be inaugurated soon, which would make visits to the Giza Pyramids Plateau and the GEM easier.

"We look forward to strengthening cooperation with the German alliance to further promote tourism to Egypt, especially cultural tourism," Abdel Aati added.

For his side, Boisel stressed the great importance the German-European alliance attaches to the Egyptian tourism, especially cultural tourism, pointing to the remarkable success witnessed by the 2014 annual conference of the alliance which was organized in the city of Luxor.

The two sides agreed during the meeting to intensify communication during the coming period to promote tourism to Egypt within Germany, and discuss the possibility of organizing the annual conference of the coalition in Egypt again.
