CAIRO, Jan 19 (MENA) - Tourism Minister Rania el Mashat said that a structural reform plan for the tourist sector was outlined in November 2018 and presented to the parliament, ministers and President Abdel Fatah El Sisi.

The plan to advance this vital sector is based on five axes which include institutional and legislative reforms besides paying attention to tourism promotion, developing the national tourism infrastructure and encouraging investments, she noted.

During a press conference held on the occasion of inaugurating the first solar energy station in JW Marriott Hotel Cairo, the minister said that the structural reform program targets achieving sustainable tourism development via formulating and implementing structural reforms which aim at enhancing the competitive ability of the tourist sector to cope with the global trends.

Inaugurating this solar station embodies one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to energy, Mashat asserted, pointing out to the growing interest in the sustainable tourism business to make positive contributions to the conservation of natural and cultural heritage.
