CAIRO – 30 May 2017: Egypt and China will launch new direct flights from the Chinese city of Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi, to Aswan starting July 13, according to the New China News “Xinhua” agency report published on Tuesday.

The direct flight takes ten hours and is scheduled every Thursday. The flight route connects Xi'an, the starting point of the ancient Silk Road, with Aswan to reinforce exchange and economic development between the two cities, the report added.

On May 22, 2017, the chairman of the Egypt-China Tourism Development campaign, Dr. Hany el-sharkawy, signed a cooperation protocol with the Chinese mayor of Yiwu to send Chinese tourist groups starting the end of the holy month of Ramadan; each group is 1,500 tourists. The campaign aims to receive one million Chinese tourists in the up-coming period.
