CAIRO – 4 September 2017: Xiamen is an emerging Chinese travel destination holding the summit for countries with emerging economies (BRICS), here is why you should pay it a visit.

BRICS

is a summit held between five countries with emerging economies which are set to challenge the West as they progress. These countries were originally Brazil, Russia, India and China and were joined by South Africa in 2011 and this year the Chinese city Xiamen was chosen to host the summit which

Xiamen

is a gorgeous Chinese coastal city located in southeastern Fujian, China. It was known to the Europeans as the treaty port “

Amoy

” which China opened after losing the First Opium War. Xiamen originally means “door to the house”, a name that suits the city for being an ancient gateway to China.

Nowadays the city is becoming more and more of a tourist attraction, deservingly so due to its richness in natural, cultural and historical sites and destinations such as:

The island of Gulangyu: a vehicle-free island, which means forget about air-pollution and car noises and enjoy a relaxing healthy vacation surrounded by nature and European themed old buildings.
