CAIRO – 1 September 2017: The beautiful Red Sea city of Hurghada hosted more than 159,642 foreign tourists during August, according to the Ministry of Tourism. The received tourists were from Germany, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and England respectively.

Furthermore, hotel groups reported that 67 percent of hotels were booked during August with some hotels being fully reserved. The groups expect the occupancy rate to rise to 80 percent during Eid al-Adha as tourist groups from the Gulf region arrive to spend the holiday in the city.

Hurghada is expecting several concerts by Egyptian and international artists, including a concert by famous Egyptian singer Amr Diab on the second day of Eid al-Adha, Saturday September 2.

On August 30, the German newspaper Frankfurt Runschau reported that hotel bookings in Hurghada for the coming winter season began to recover despite the knife attack in July. The newspaper added that there is a steady increase of tourist bookings comparing to the previous year.
