CAIRO – 28 August 2017: The Central Administration for Zoos, founded in 1891, finished all maintenance work for toilets in Giza Zoo. The zoo is preparing to receive visitors for Eid Al Adha from Friday through Monday.

The administration head, Mohamed Ragaei, told press on Monday that an intensive program was implemented to clean the zoo and its pathways, increase the green area, restore waterways and artificial ponds, and renovate lions’ and tigers’ dens. The animal museum also includes a children’s cinema.

Ragaei added that new cards containing information on animals were installed. Such information includes their natural range, mating season, and life span.
Furthermore, additional directional signs and maps were placed to guide visitors, in addition to paper maps.

The Environmental Education and Awareness Center has been prepared to hold lectures with data shows on bird migration, its causes, flyways, difficulties they face, and how they overcome them, as well as rare and endangered birds, mammals, and reptiles, and how to preserve them.
