CAIRO – 9 July 2017: The Maldives has become a destination for artists and celebrities for their holidays and is considered by many to be the world's leading tropical beach destination for honeymooning. One thing is for certain, it is one of the best places to relax and unwind from the busy lifestyle and chaos of the modern world.

1 - Maldives islands

There are more than 106 different resorts for visitors to choose from and the desert island vibes are guaranteed to make you feel as if you own your own private piece of heaven. In any of the Maldives’ 1,190 islands you will find idyllic coral beaches, lush tropical vegetation, warm shallow waters, superb hotel facilities and excellent service.

All the Maldives’ resorts are located on private islands ranging from 150-meters² to 2.5-kilometers². Typical facilities available are restaurants, bars, water sports and entertainment. These are often the only places you can reach during your stay in a resort in the Maldives, due to the tranquil isolated nature of the islands.

The location of the Maldives:
The Maldives archipelago is located on the northern side of the western coast of the Republic of Sri Lanka, about 400 miles away from the South Asian island nation. It is about 350 miles away from the nearest south-west coast of India and is bordered on the north-east by Lakadiv, the Arabian Sea and the southern and western Indian Ocean.

How to access the Maldives:
International flights arrive at Malé International Airport which is located on the private island of Hulhule towards the north of the archipelago. Many visitors travel by private aircraft, but there are many commercial flights operated by companies such as Emirites from Dubai, SriLankan Airlines from Colombo, Singapore Airlines from Singapore, British Airways from London and Saudia Airlines directly from Riyadh to the Maldives.
Access to the resorts:
From airport to the resort, transportation is available by boat, hydroplane or local flight. The option usually depends on the distance from the airport. If access to your resort requires a hydroplane, there are several things to keep in mind. If your arrival is after sunset you will have to stay that night in Malé, and the same if your departure date is in the morning.

Hydroplane:
The independence of a hydroplane in the Maldives is a unique experience. Make sure to take the seat next to the window so that you do not miss the amazing scenes and make sure your camera is fully charged before boarding the plane.

What can you do in the Maldives?
The tropical paradise of the Maldives is usually visited by tourists for its beaches and water sports. Its aquatic life is spectacular and its dive sites have a good reputation.
Most resorts do not have a program full of activities, and there is no chance to visit tourist attractions "no matter what boat trips can be organized to visit the surrounding inhabited islands."

Choose your favorite resort:
The cost of a resort may not always be clear from the first look and will vary according to several factors:
Most resorts have a wide range of room types and accommodations such as basic rooms, larger rooms, location and view. A change of just one of these factors has doubled the cost of accommodation more than once.

Accommodation in the Maldives usually does not consist of more than two floors with a separate room or villa on the beach or above the water; so do not expect to stay in a high place.

Keep in mind that you will not be able to easily travel somewhere else to eat, practice a water sport, or do any other activity you love, so choose the resort that has the facilities to suit your needs.

Many islands have only one or two restaurants, so if you have limited food preferences you should choose a resort that offers open dining options instead of a set menu.

Swimming pools at the resorts are scarce as "in the Indian Ocean it is not needed." If a pool is a major factor for you when choosing a holiday to make sure to think your choice through before making a reservation.

Food Plan:
For most resorts the basic food plan is bed and breakfast. There are also several new resorts offering "all-inclusive" as a standard plan.

Be careful when considering the "All-In-One" offers - this does not mean all-inclusive at all resorts. Sometimes meals are included only in the main restaurant and diners must pay for a supplement when eating elsewhere.

Travel to the Maldives:
Things to beware of: The cost of meals and drinks at many resorts is very expensive Everything in the Maldives except for fish and coconut is be imported, usually coming from Dubai to the capital and then by boat to the resort.
To save you an unpleasant surprise, visitors should be aware that any activity you choose once at the resort will be mostly free.
