CAIRO-24 January 2021: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has sent a message of congratulations to the Egyptian handball national team after they secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the 27th Men's Handball World Championship.
“I would like to congratulate my sons in the handball national team on their deserved qualification to the quarter-finals and on their honorable performance.” President El-Sisi posted on facebook.
President El-Sisi affirmed his pride and constant support to all the Egyptian sports role models and all sports activities in Egypt.
President El-Sisi welcomed once again the participating nations in the world cup, which is being held in Egypt.
Egypt men’s handball national team was held to a 25-25 draw by Slovenia, but the point was enough for the Pharaohs to secure a spot in the quarter-finals.
The Pharaohs were behind in the first half by four goals but the hosts did not give up and fought back in the second half to secure a draw.
Egypt hosts the competition between 13 and 31 January 2021, with the participation of 32 teams for the first time in the competition's history.
