CAIRO-21 January 2021: France achieved a hard victory over Algeria 29:26 on Wednesday at Hassan Mostafa Hall in 6 October City.

France head coach Guillaume Gille revealed that his team faced a tough opponent and his players struggled to find the route to victory.

"We faced a stubborn and tough opponent and our play wasn't perfect and we had many issues. We didn't start well and needed time to hold control of the game and eventually earn points." Gille said after the match.

France added another two points to their tally and they are now on top of the main round group with six points while the Algerians are pointless at the bottom of the group.

Gille added "Now, we need time to solve our issues for the coming games."

France are looking forward to achieving the 7th World Cup title in the competition's history and they hope to avoid their fate in the last edition when they were knocked out from the semi-finals by Denmark.

Egypt hosts the IHF Men's Handball World Cup between 13 and 31 January 2021, with the participation of 32 teams for the first time in the competition's history.
