CAIRO, 18 January 2021:  The Croatian national team defeated their Angolan counterpart, 20/28, in the second round matches of the World Handball Championship to be held in Egypt with the participation of 32 teams.

The teams of Croatia and Angola are located in the third group of the championship groups, next to the teams of Japan and Qatar, where the group matches is being held at the Burj Al Arab hall in Alexandria.

The Croatian national team made an awakening during the match in light of Angola's attempts to control the match, but Croatia was able to expand the difference to 8 goals, by the end of the match.

“We played well in the game against Angola as we developed our performance after the first round game against Japan,” Červar said.

Meanwhile, Croatia centre-back Luka Cindric appreciated the performance of Angola’s team, confirming it was important to claim the victory on Sunday to book a place in the main round.

Croatia will face Qatar in the third round of Group C games at Alexandria’s Borg Al Arab Sports Hall, on Tuesday.

“We will concentrate on the coming game against Qatar as we will face a tough opponent and we want to snatch the group’s lead,” Cindric said.

“It’s difficult to predict the qualifying team for the quarterfinal as there are big teams in the tournament and there are teams like Belarus and Russian Handball Federation all those can reach far in the World Championship,”

It is expected that the top three will qualify for the main role.
