CAIRO-11 September 2020: Germany national team coach Alfred Gislason revealed that he is happy with the draw of the 27th IHF Men's Handball World Championship.

The draw ceremony was held on Saturday 5 September at the Giza Pyramids Plateau.

Germany handball national team was drawn in Group A alongside Hungary, Uruguay and Cape Verde.

"It's a nice group. Hungary were very strong at the recent European Championship, I don't know the debutants Uruguay and Cape Verde yet." Gislason told the tournament's official website.

Germany, who have participated in 24 editions of the Handball World Championship, are one of the main contenders for the title as they won three world cup titles in 1938, 1978, and 2007.

Gislason added "The next stages of the World Championship could be more difficult for us than at the other half of the tournament."

Egypt hosts the competition between 14 January and 31 January. The competition will see the participation of 32 teams for the first time in the competition's history.
