CAIRO-5 September 2020: The Medical Commission of the 2021 IHF Men’s World Championship announced the General preventive measures for the competition on Saturday.

Egypt hosts the competition, which will see the participation of 32 teams for the first time in the competition's history, between 14 and 31 January 2020.

"The COVID officer will be in direct contact with the medical staff of all teams to deliver and follow any medical updates about the players." The Chairman of the medical commission Dr Hazem Khamis said.

Despite the pandemic, Dr Khamis said that Egypt will apply all the preventive measures to ensure the safety of the participants and the fans.

Khamis added "Every team will have its COVID-19 officer so you needn't worry about the contact between the teams and the medical commission,"

Egypt will be under the spotlight by millions of handball fans around the world as the 27th IHF Men's Handball World Championship will be held on Saturday night.

The Egyptian team finished 6th when Egypt hosted the tournament for the first time in 1999 and two years later the Pharaohs achieved their biggest achievement in the competition's history when they finished 4th in France.
