CAIRO, 31 August 2020: Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski won the Best Player award in Germany.

Lewandowski won the prize for the first time in his career, according to a poll conducted by the German newspaper Kicker.

Bayern reported on its website that the Polish striker received 276 votes in the voting, ahead of his colleagues Thomas Muller (54 votes) and Joshua Kimmich (49 votes).

The award came a week after Bayern won the Champions League title, which the Bavarians added to the League and German Cup titles.

Lewandowski is the first non-German player to receive the award since 2015, when Belgian Kevin De Bruyne won it.

After winning the award, Poland's captain told Kicker:  I always strive for the best."

"I worked hard throughout the season, and so did the team as a whole," he added.

The best player in Poland 8 times scored 55 goals in all competitions and contributed strongly to winning the 3 titles with Bayern in the 2019-2020 season.

He won the top scorer award in each of the three championships, with 34 goals in the league, 6 in the German Cup and 15 in the European Champions League.
