CAIRO-9 August 2020: Former Bayern Munich captain, Lothar Matthäus, believes that the German giants are the favourites to reach UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
Bayern Munich defeated Chelsea 7-1 on aggregate to set up a clash with Barcelona in the competition's quarter-finals.
"I think Bayern would have to make a lot of mistakes and do a lot of things badly to lose to this Barcelona." Matthäus said.
The one-off quarter-final tie will be played on Friday 14 August in Lisbon.
The German added "In a one-off game, things can happen. You do something bad and you're out. You can correct these things in two-legged ties,"
Barcelona defeated Napoli 3-1 on Saturday night after another heroic performance from the team's star Lionel Messi.
Matthäus continued "Of course Barcelona have the quality to be at their best in a game,"
The last time the two teams met in the competition was in 2015 UEFA Champions League semis when Barcelona won the tie 5-3 to advance to the final.
