Manchester United sealed a precious 2-0 victory over rivals Manchester City in the 29th fixture of the English Premier League at Old Trafford [Manchester United’s Stadium].

The first half began with both teams looking to score the opening goal of the match; however, both teams lacked the final touch in the early minutes of the first half.

Manchester United’s winger, Anthony Martial opened the scoresheet on the 30th minute after converting Bruno Fernendes’, Manchester United’s attacking midfielder, foul to the net.

Following Martial’s goal, Manchester City kept looking to score the equalizer but Kevin De Bruyne’s absence affected the level of chances that they created.

During the second half, City’s ball possession increased dramatically reaching to 71% especially with Manchester United dropping back to defend their lead.

It was not until the dying minutes of the game, when Scott McTominay, United’s midfielder, doubled the score for United following Ederson’s, Manchester City’s goalkeeper, mistake.

The Red Devils’ [Manchester United] important victory made them reach 5th place with a 3 points gap from Chelsea who are 4th.

While, The Citizens’ [Manchester City] loss means that Liverpool who sit in first place with 82 points are only six points away from achieving their first English Premier League title ever.
