CAIRO – 6 March 2020: Athletic Bilbao won the tie over Granada at Spanish Copa del Rey semi-final to set up an all-Basque Copa del Rey final with arch rivals, Real Sociedad.

Athletic Bilbao lost to Granada 2-1 on Thursday night but they advanced to the final thanks to a 1-0 victory at home at the first leg.

Granada was so close to secure the ticket to the final as they scored two goals by Carlos Fernández and Germán Sánchez but a late goal from Bilbao’s defender, Yuri Berchiche, was enough for Los Leones to secure the ticket for the final.

“The Basque final is going to set an example, we're going to set an example so that fans of both teams can enjoy a festival of football; the history of the two clubs is ahead of the result," Bilbao president Aitor Elizegi said after the game.

Bilbao have the second-most titles in the competition with 23 titles and they aim to win the competition for the first time since 1984 while Sociedad target their third title in the competition.
