CAIRO –17 June 2017: Josep “Pep” Guardiola Sala, current Manchester City manager, said on Thursday he expects conflict to arise between between Johan Cruyff and Lionel Messi if both of them were to work together in a hypothetical scenario.

Pep Guardiola said that with Messi playing for the team and Cruyff coaching, the team would have “won many things,” Tribalfootball.com reported. He added that he expected the duo would have resolved their issues eventually.

Johan Cruyff managed Guardiola during his first days with the first team from 1990 to 1996 and Guardiola managed Lionel Messi in Barcelona from 2009 to 2013.

On May 20, 2016, Barcelona celebrated the 25th anniversary of the first Champions League in the team’s history under the management of Johan Cruyff, with Guardiola in the squad. Barcelona defeated Sampdoria 1-0 at the final match in Wembley Stadium.
