CAIRO – 11 October 2019: Sudan’s Al Hilal manager, Salah Adam, believes that his team was drawn in a tough group at CAF Champions League draw.

The Sudanese club were drawn alongside Tunisian giants, Etoile du Sahel, FC Platinum from Zimbabwe and the Egyptian giants, Al-Ahly.

“We were drawn in a tough group but we are happy that we will visit Egypt to play against Al-Ahly.” The Sudanese manager said.

Al Hilal will open his group stage participation against Platinum Stars before travelling to Egypt to play against Al-Ahly.

The Sudanese team will face Al-Ahly again in Sudan at the last round of the group stage.

Adam added “We played against Etoile du Sahel last season and we know them well but we will play against Platinum for the first time.”

CAF Champions League Group Stage draw held on Wednesday night in Cairo and resulted in tough groups.

On the other hand, defending champions, Esperance, were drawn in the group of death alongside two Arab rivals, Raja Casablanca of Morocco and Algeria’s JS Kabylie, as well as the Congolese giants, AS Vita Club.

The four teams of the group have lifted the prestigious title before and they are ready to fight for a place at the next stages of the competition.

The 2019 CAF Champions League finalists, Wydad Casablanca, handed a tough draw against South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, Angola’s Petro de Luanda and USM Alger of Algeria.

Five-time winners, TP Mazembe, Zambia’s ZESCO United, Clube Desportivo 1º de Agosto of Angola and the winner of Zamalek clash against Génération Footcomprise Group A.

The teams will play against each other home-and-away in a round-robin format and the top two teams of each group will reach the quarter finals.
