CAIRO – 4 October 2019: Egypt volleyball team lost 3-1 to Brazil at the third game of volleyball World Cup 2019, takes place in Japan between 1 and 15 October.

The South American giants had a strong start at the game and won the first set 25-19, however the Egyptians bounced back to win the second set 25-21 to equal the score.

Brazil dominated the game since then and won the next two sets 25-19 and 25-22 respectively to win the game 3-1.

Egypt suffered their first loss at the world cup after achieving two straight wins over Australia and Iran.

“I think we brought some energy to the court, and when we start believing we can play really good volleyball. I think Brazil also don’t know us very well, so that was an advantage for us that we could just play freely and show what we can do, and we did.” Egypt national team coach Gido Vermeulen said after the game.

The Egyptian team’s performance during the game and the whole competition was praised by Brazil captain, Bruno Rezende, who reacted to his team’s victory saying “We knew that tonight’s game against Egypt would be a really difficult fight because they played really well in the first two matches, and we were prepared for a long match. They had a lot of energy in all the sets, so I think they played really well.”

The Egyptian team aims to return to their victorious run when they face Canada on Saturday.
