CAIRO - 01 October 2019: Al-Ahly officials set mid-October as a tentative date to face Real Madrid friendly, after the club delegation consisting of Khaled Mortagi and Mohamed Serag board members with the management of the Royal Club to hold a match between the two teams.

Al Ahly board members, attending the Football World Forum in Madrid, received an offer to face Real Madrid in a friendly game at Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

Real Madrid director Emilio Butragueño accompanied Al Ahly board members during a tour in the Spanish club’s stadium and offered them to organize a friendly game like the game in 2001.

In 2001, African club of the century, Al Ahly, hosted European club of the century in Real Madrid at Cairo Stadium in a game ended with a 1-0 victory for the Egyptian team thanks to a goal by Nigerian midfielder, Sunday Chibuike.

This game in 200 is considered the most important friendly game ever played in Egypt as the Spanish club then included many top players like Zidane, Luis Figo, Raul and Roberto Carlos.

It is worth to mention that Al-Ahly historic manager, Manuel Jose, was leading the Red Devils during the game while Vicente Del Bosque was Real Madrid manager.

Al Ahly board members accepted the initial offer and the game’s details will be decided later.
