CAIRO – 19 September 2019: The veteran German referee, Felix Brych, will officiate Al-Ahly clash against Zamalek on Friday night at the Egyptian Super Cup clash at Borg El Arab Stadium.

The German, who is considered one of the best referees in the world, will be joined by assistants Mark Borsch and Stefan Lupp.

Brych, 44, started refereeing in the domestic German top division, Bundesliga, in 2004 and he earned his FIFA badge three years later.

Brych officiatd many big clashes in Europe including 2012 UEFA Champions League semi-final between Chelsea and Barcelona, UEFA Europa League Final in 2014 Sevilla and Benfica and 2017 UEFA Champions League Final between Real Madrid and Juventus.

The Egyptian fans followed the German performance on Tuesday as he officiated the clash between Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool and Napoli at UEFA Champions League which ended with a 2-0 victory for the Italian club.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, criticized the referee after the game as he awarded a controversial penalty to Napoli that gave them the opportunity to open the score.

This edition of the Super Cup is for the 2017-2018 season when Al Ahly won the Egyptian league while Zamalek won the Egyptian Cup.
