Zamalek enters private camp with Milutin Sredovejic ‘Micho’

CAIRO - 21 August 2019: Serbian Micho, the new manager of Zamalek, has decided to make a private camp in Borg El Arab, in the current period, will extend till the end of Misr Al Makassah clash in the Egyptian Cup quarter final.

Milutin Sredovejic is expected to lead Zamalek as new manager against Dekadaha next Friday.

The experienced Serbian takes over for the next season after leaving his position behind at Orlando Pirates.

The White Knights have been looking for a new manager ever since defeat to fierce rivals Aly Ahly in the last game of the season. Galal took over from Christian Gross who’s contract ran out due and Zamalek refused to extend it.

Zamalek had interviewed several candidates for the position including Ramon Diaz, Jaime Pacheco and Jusualdo Ferreira. The latter have both managed Zamalek in the past.

Controversial club president Mortada Mansour confirmed that Sredovejic also going by the nickname ‘Micho’ was the club’s third choice manager.

Micho expressed his joy at becoming Zamalek’s new head coach. “I have been coaching in Africa for 19 years. I have worked in seven countries and visited 50 out of 54 African countries, but today I can say that my dream has come true after taking charge of Zamalek,” Micho said.

“We have a fantastic squad. The best Tunisian players, the best three Moroccan players, in addition to the Egyptian ones. The club has all the success factors.

“Zamalek is a special club that you fall in love with as soon as you enter it. I want to work hard in order to achieve the fans’ goals,” he concluded

The 49 year old has managed all over Africa including at Sudanese club Al Hilal, Young Africans of Tanzania and Ugandan outfit SCV Kampala. He joins the Cairo giants on a one year deal.
