CAIRO – 25 July 2019: Al-Ahly defeated Arab Contractors 3-1 on Wednesday night at Borg El Arab Stadium to secure the team’s 41st Egyptian League Title.

Al-Ahly opened the scored after 22 minutes by Ali Maaloul who followed WalidSoliman’s free kick.

At the second half, Al-Ahly’s winger, Hussein El Shahat, showed his class and produced a great performance to help his team to win the game.

El Shahat scored the second goal for his team after a wonderful pass from Saleh Gomaa while he added the third goal after he nutmegged the opponent’s defender and put the ball in the back of the net.

El Shahat joined Al-Ahly last January from UAE’s Al-Ain but he was criticized from Al-Ahly fans as he failed to adapt with his new team but on Wednesday’s night the player showed his value.

Arab Contractors’ Tunisian striker, Seifeddine Jaziri, scored his team’s only goal at the game seconds before the final whistle.

At the same time in Cairo, Al-Ahly rivals, Zamalek, defeated Ismaily 3-1 to reach 72 points but Al-Ahly’s victory sent them points to win the title regardless the last round’s result.

Zamalek players hope to reconcile their fans after losing the league title when they face Al-Ahly on Sunday at Cairo Derby.
