Cairo – 19 July 2019: CAF President, Ahmad Ahmad, hailed the organization committee’s efforts during 2019 Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Egypt between 21 June and 19 July.

“Egypt have achieved an extraordinary success during the tournament. I want to thank President Sisi for his support.” Ahmad said on Thursday.

Egypt won the rights to host the tournament after being selected over South Africa.

The 2019 African Cup of nations was initially scheduled to be hosted by Cameroon. However, Cameroon was stripped of hosting the tournament for serious delays in preparations.

Ahmad added “Everyone witnessed the organization committee’s efforts to make every thing perfect especially the stadiums which are highly praised from all the players.”
Six stadiums in Egypt hosted the tournament which witnessed the participation of 24 teams for the first time in the history.

Algeria face Senegal on Friday night at 2019 Africa Cup of Nations final at Cairo Stadium.

Senegal target their first AFCON title while Algeria players aim to win their second title and their first one since 1990.
