CAIRO – 26 June 2019: Real Madrid manager, ZinedineZidane, revealed on Monday that he wants the Algerian team to win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations title.

Zidane is of Algerian descent but he decided to represent France on International level. Zidane led France to win the 1998 World Cup and the European Championship in 2000.

“I want to see the best performance from the Algerian players during 2019 AFCON to make the people happy,” Zidane told reporters on Monday.

Algeria defeated Kenya 2-0 at Air Defense Stadium at the opening game of the group thanks to two goals from Baghdad Bounedjah and RiyadMahrez.

Algeria leads the group with three points, level on points with Senegal who defeated Tanzania 2-0.
Zidane continued “I want to see the people celebrating in the streets.”

Algeria, who won the title once in 1990, are one of the main contenders to win the title.

Algeria will face a tough test at the second round of the group stage when they face one of the title contenders, Senegal, who will regain their biggest star, Sadio Mane, who missed Senegal’s first game for suspension.
