CAIRO – 24 June 2019: Kenya coach, Sebastien Migne, revealed on Sunday night that his team lacked experience against Algeria during their opening game at 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Algeria defeated Kenya 2-0 at Air Defense Stadium thanks to two goals from Baghdad Bounedjah and RiyadMahrez.

“We simply missed the experience to take the battle to Algeria and also some of my players were afraid since they were playing in the big stage for the first time,” Migne said after the game.

Kenya failed to create clear chances to score during the game and they failed to battle the Algerian players who were the better side during the whole game.

Migne added “We did not play our usual game and it was difficult for me to recognize my team and at this stage, if you don’t show up and play your usual style, then you will definitely lose.”

Algeria lead the group with three points, level on points with Senegal who defeated Tanzania 2-0.

Migne continued “We must stay positive, we can still get something from the two matches and put our campaign back on track.”

Kenya face Tanzania at the second round of the group stage while Algeria face Senegal.
