CAIRO – 18 June 2019: Egypt national team players have returned to training on Tuesday night at the Military Academy Stadium in Cairo. The team arrived on Monday night in Cairo from Borg El Arab.

Egypt national team played two friendly games against Tanzania and Guinea ahead of the competition.

The first game against Tanzania ended with a 1-0 victory for the Egyptians thanks to a goal from Ahmed Elmohamady while the second game against Guinea ended with a 3-1 victory.

Marwan Mohsen opened the score for Egypt at the first half which ended with a 1-0 lead for the Egyptians.

At the second half, the team manager, Javier Aguirre, made many substitutions including Mohamed Salah who played the last 30 minutes at the game.

Guinea equalized the score seconds after Salah substitutions by Sory Kaba.

Salah calmed the Egyptian fans about their team ahead of the competition through his one man show performance at the last minutes of the game. He provided two assists for Ahmed Ali and Omar Gaber who granted Egypt the victory.

The tournament takes place with the participation of 24 teams in six groups for the first time in the history of the African competition.

Egypt plays in Group A alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
