CAIRO – 17 June 2019: Nigeria fans were happy following the 2019 African Cup of Nations draw as they avoided the continent’s superpowers. Nigeria plays in Group B alongside Madagascar; Guinea and Burundi.

However, the team’s midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, believes that his team should not underestimate their group opponents.

“I don’t think it is an easy group. For me, there is no easy team in modern football. No matter the name, the only matter is the 90 minutes of the game,” Ndidi said.

Nigeria players are searching for their fourth title at the competition and their first since 2013.

Ndidi added “We will play tough games against very good teams and our target is to be on the top by the end of group stages.”

Nigeria will open their participation at the tournament on 22 June at Alexandria Stadium against Madagascar before facing Guinea on 26 June. The team will end their group stage games on 30 June against Burundi.

The tournament takes place with the participation of 24 teams in six groups for the first time in the history of the African competition.
